French Title: Pas Moi
Published: 4 August 2020
Genres: Children’s Literature, Fiction, Comedy
Available as: Hardcover
Pas Moi features a father asking his son and daughter who left their socks everywhere. The story walks through the steps of how the children avoid responsibility through meeting the characters of Pas Moi (Not Me), Pas Vrai (Not True), and Pas Juste (Not Fair).
I would recommend this text to parents reading with their children who enjoy texts with characters of colour, comedy, and want to practice French. I appreciated that the words to be emphasized when reading aloud were bolder in colour. It made it easier for reader’s theatre* to happen because I knew I would have to adapt my tone (surprised, shocked, questioning or serious) from the moment I turned the page.
* Reader’s theatre is using vocal expression (ex. tone, volume, pace, pronunciation, pitch, projection) to help the audience better understand the story
